Speakers

Hiroshi Kita

Technology Advisor, Technology Development Headquarters, Konica Minolta, Inc.

After completing his Master’s degree in Applied Chemistry at the Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University in 1987, Hiroshi Kita joined the current Konica Minolta, Inc. He has been engaged in the development of functional compounds such as color photography and OLED. Summarizing the results of these research activities, he obtained a Doctorate in Science from the Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University in 2015. From 2017, he served as a Technology Fellow (Executive Officer). Since 2024, he has held his current position. From 2018 onwards, he has led research and development incorporating machine learning and served concurrently as Chairman of the Advanced Materials Rapid Development Technology Research Association (ADMAT) from 2021 to 2023. Currently, he promotes industry-academia collaboration as a member of Graduate Program of Transformative Chem-Bio Research (GTR) at Nagoya University, a visiting professor at the Digital Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Education and Research Center at Hiroshima University, and a visiting professor at Tokyo University of Technology.

Professor Hiroshi Amano received Doctor of Engineering from Nagoya University. Currently he is a Director, Center for Integrated Research of Future Electronics, and a Professor, Institute of Materials and Systems for Sustainability, Nagoya University.
He shared the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics with Prof. Isamu Akasaki and Prof. Shuji Nakamura “for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources”.
He is currently developing technologies for the fabrication of high-efficiency power semiconductor development and new energy-saving devices at Nagoya University.

Event Overview

Graduate students from Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education, Program for Leading Graduate Schools, and Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation will form interdisciplinary teams across various universities to discuss and share their current situations, future expectations over the next 10 years, and challenges. Based on these discussions, they will present recommendations for a better future for PhDs to either universities, the government, or companies.

Program DetailsPresentations will be divided among three venues according to the recommendation target, with each group given 5 minutes to present their proposal. Two groups per venue will be selected by student vote, and the selected representative groups will receive feedback.Six teams chosen through student voting will present as representatives.
VotingTwo groups from each venue (six groups in total) will be selected by online voting from participating students.All attendees can vote online, and judges will assess the presentations to award the Best Award, Corporate Award, Amano Award, and President’s Award.
